“Perhaps I am afraid of losing Venice all at once, if I speak of it, or perhaps, speaking of other cities, I have already lost it, little by little.”
― Italo Calvino, Invisible Cities
A trip to the iconic city of Venice, Italy, deserves a stay in a hotel just as special. When my sister and I booked a trip to Venice to experience the 58th International Art Biennale, we knew we wanted to stay right on the water with a view of all the energy of the city outside our window.
Imagine a classical Venetian hotel in the heart of Italy’s most romantic city. With two separate buildings: one overlooking the lagoon and the other just a short distance away in Campo San Zaccaria. Here is where you will find the wonderful Renaissance façade of a church designed by Mauro Condussi, from which you can admire Venice’s oldest crypt.
Soak up the splendor of Venice with its crumbling palaces, buzzing piazzas and romantic waterways. A stay at the Hotel Savoia & Jolanda promises a romantic respite, located just 200 meters from St. Mark’s Square.
Be sure to request a room with a view!
Opulence in the Heart of Venice
Overlooking St Mark’s Basin, Hotel Savoia & Jolanda has a centuries-old tradition of divine hospitality. Combine the charm of a Venetian palace with modern-day services such as free WiFi. Enjoy the wellness space on the first floor of the Savoia wing, fully-equipped with workout machines, weights and a steam room. Boats are available for guest to partake in Venice’s many canals.
Make a grand start to your day with an included buffet breakfast and tuck into the day’s most important meal at The Principessa restaurant. Also serving Italian-inspired dishes for lunch and dinner, the staff do it with flair in either the elegant dining room or out on the flower-filled terrace overlooking San Giorgia Island.
In the evenings, indulge in tapas and cocktails at the property’s Terrazza Cordussi – perfect after a day of exploring the street and waterways of this magnificent city.
The Rooms
Flamboyantly Italian in classic Venetian style, with wood-beamed ceilings, ornate furnishings, and beds adorned with luxe silk fabrics, the rooms are illuminated by warm Murano glass lamps. All rooms have en-suite marble bathrooms with heated towel racks, magnifying mirror, bathrobes, slippers and courtesy kit. We actually skipped out on a couple of our city activities just to enjoy the room!
The room balconies overlook the Venice Lagoon, where the scent of the see and soft light pervade the senses. It is an exclusive home base for exploring the city.
There are four room types, of various sizes and different views, but all are elegantly furnished, with sumptuous fabrics, fine paintings, with all of the details and comforts that a discerning visitor expects. All designed to create a romantic, seductive atmosphere. Choose from Standard, Superior, Junior Suite Lagoon View and Junior Suite Deluxe Lagoon View. All rooms are non-smoking, with LCD satellite television, mini bar, air conditioning, safe and turndown service.
It’s All About Location
The Hotel Savoia & Jolanda sits just on the cusp of the Venice Lagoon, on the Riva degli Schiavoni; close walking distance to the grand piazza of St Mark’s Square, the Doge’s Palace, the Bridge of Sighs and the Venice Biennale. It is easy distance from Via XXII Marzo, home to Venice’s best shopping.
The hotel is just steps from a water taxi stop, so getting around the city could not be more convenient.
