Nēmah ~ The Promise Of Sustainable Skincare

Since I was a kid I’ve had keratosis pilaris, annoying little white bumps, on my arms and legs. The condition develops when the skin produces too much of a protein called keratin, which can block hair follicles and cause bumps to develop. It’s common and totally harmless, but really hard to not touch.

To make it worse, I have what’s called a ‘body focused repetitive disorder’ called dermatillomania, or skin picking. It’s similar to OCD and pretty common ~ anyone who compulsively bites their nails or pulls their hair has a BFRD. Unfortunately, it can leave scars. I have scarring on my arms that I’m really self-conscious about, and I’ve tried every scar cream and patch and remedy I could find, but none of them help very much.

Like many people, I also have stretch marks on my legs that I’ve had since my teenage growth spurt. They don’t bother me that much because I long ago accepted there wasn’t much I could do about them, but I would certainly love it if they were gone!

I don’t usually talk about all of this, but I’m working on having more skin positivity, and I want to share a skincare brand that has really been making a difference for me. I think that normalizing conversations about skin conditions and mental health is so important for our wellbeing and helps us discover the best ways of addressing and treating them.

Nēmah Vegan and Cruelty Free Skincare

For the past few months I’ve been using the stretch mark cream and restorative scar treatment from Nēmah on my arms. I’ve seen such a big difference in the color and texture of my skin. There’s less redness and my skin is getting so much smoother. I use both once or twice a day.

Nēmah was founded in 2021 by Nashville entrepreneur Mary Lawless Lee. The skincare line was created for mothers and families, but can be used by anyone. The creams work on both old and new scars and stretch marks.
