25+ Eco-Friendly Stocking Stuffers

Stockings are my favorite part of Christmas morning! My mom always found the most fun and unique stocking stuffers for my sister and me, so I love carrying on the tradition.

Stocking stuffers so commonly have plastic packaging or are fun but useless items that get thrown away right after the holidays. I always make an extra effort to find eco friendly stocking stuffers that my family will actually use and that don’t create a ton of waste. There are always lots of great eco friendly gifts on Etsy, and I love perusing local shops and farmers’ markets to find stocking stuffers as well.

I have compiled the ultimate list of this year’s findings: 25+ stocking stuffers that will delight your friends and family while also being kind to the environment! Skip all the unnecessary plastic with these eco friendly gift ideas.

All of the products I love are some combination of organic, vegan, zero waste, handmade, non-toxic, and sustainable. Many are made by companies that give back and support great causes. And beyond that, these products are simply clever, unique, well designed, and, at times, surprising!

Giving gifts always feels good, but it feels even better when the gifts you’re giving are also good for the planet.

Here’s my guide to the best eco friendly stocking stuffers!

Bamboo toothbrush

I’m in love with this unique, sustainable toothbrush from Brush with Bamboo. It’s the world’s first-ever plant-based bamboo toothbrush. The bristles are made from non-fossil fuel carbon and are 100% castor bean oil and USDA certified 100% biobased.

They do not contain any ricin, and you can rest assured that all of the company’s products are tested and certified by third parties, including the United States government’s Biopreferred Program.

Conscious Step Socks

Did you know you could make a difference just by the socks you wear? These cozy socks are certified organic and fairtrade, plus they’re available in crew and ankle styles and countless patterns and colors.

But what I really love about them is that for every pair of socks you buy, a portion goes to a good cause.

This includes planting trees with Trees.org, providing disaster relief with Oxfam, restoring oceans and coral reefs with Oceana, supporting LGBTQ youth through the Trevor Project, treating HIV with UNAIDS, and fighting hunger with Action Against Hunger. The pattern you choose shows off the cause you care about!

Plantable Pencil

I love the idea of planting your pencil once it’s too short to use! That’s what Sprout wants you to do. Made with sustainably harvested wood, 100% natural graphite and clay and a non-toxic seed capsule, all you have to do is stick your pencil in potting soil, tip out, and ensure it remains moist and receives sunlight.

In 1 to 4 weeks, your plants will start to grow. Carnations, thyme, forget-me-nots, sage, daisies, coriander and cherry tomatoes—create your own garden with these singular pencils or give them as a gift to kids or adults alike.

Reusable Q-Tips

Take your bathroom routine to the next level with these reusable q-tips from LastSwab. The first q-tips of their kind in the world, they’re made from TPE, PP, and are stored in a bio-based carrying case. I gave these to all my family members and they were a big hit!

They can be easily cleaned by hand with soap and water and they’re made from durable, high-quality, flexible and non-toxic materials.

Even more impressive is that the LastSwab q-tip can replace 1,000 single-use cotton swabs. Using it allows you to play a role in reducing the harmful waste that impacts our environment.

Reusable Cotton Tissues

Similar to LastSwab, another great environmentally-friendly stocking stuffer this holiday season is LastTissue. Each box comes with 6 reusable 100% organic cotton tissues that come in a 100% recyclable silicone carrying case.

The case is organized in such a way that you can separate used tissues from the clean ones and you can disinfect it in the dishwasher. Also, you can wash your reusable tissues up to 500 times each. Even better: every pack saves the planet from over 3,000 single-use tissues.

Reusable Cotton Rounds

Beauty junkies (like me) will rejoice with LastRound. These are a sustainable alternative to single use cotton pads. Cotton, as it turns out, is not as environmentally friendly as you may think.

That’s why LastObject created these packs of 7 reusable cotton rounds, which you can easily store in their bio-based case. They’re made from 100% sustainably-sourced materials and are entirely compostable, and once you use them you can wash them by hand or in the washing machine before you reuse them.

Coffee

Nothing tastes quite as good in the morning as a delicious cup of organic Guatemalan coffee. I absolutely love that it’s made with 100% organic arabica coffee beans, grown without GMOs and chemicals, and is certified bird-friendly and fair trade.

This coffee also has chocolate, caramel and fruit undertones, the latter due to the fact that the beans are grown under plantain, banana and guava trees. If you want to gift a cup of joe that also protects wildlife, the environment and worker’s rights, this is it.

What do you do with your candle container once the candle is gone? Hopefully you reuse it or you recycle it, but for all of the people who just discard it, here’s an alternative: these candles come wrapped in a seed paper label.

Once your candle burns and the wax is gone, you can plant the seed paper and grow a wildflower garden in the container. In short, a singular and sustainable gift!

Produce Bags

Support the environment with these eco-friendly, zero-waste mesh produce bags. You can skip the plastic bags in the supermarket’s produce section and put your fresh food directly into these bags.

Cashiers should be able to scan them without a problem, and they’re extremely light so they won’t add any weight to your fruits and veggies. Even better, they come in multiple sizes, they have a convenient drawstring and toggle closure, they’re easy to clean, are BPA free and are 100% food contact safe.
